I Will Still Love You

A poem by Griffin Polley Originally written 4/27/2020

When I see you every day, I smile to myself

Just knowing you exist brings me happiness

After all, I feel like you bring out the best of me

A piece of myself that’s hidden somewhere

A fragment of glass hidden in the sand

Complete, but not fully realized yet

Full of potential to be something beautiful

But to find the glass, it’s going to hurt

We’ll struggle and fight, but I know what’s true

I will still love you throughout

And sure, there may be some days

Where you want to quit, or you will break down

But I will still love you throughout

And I know we will share happy moments

Moments where we look back and smile

A footprint left by us, a mark etched in history

Those are the times where I will be proud

Of the people that we have become

Others will look at us and watch us

But we’ll smile and wave with warm greetings

Because we know we have a purpose

To raise off of each other

And reach our fullest potential

And even though we’re still looking

For that fabled piece of glass

I just want you to know

That I will still love you throughout Featured Image by Khadeeja Yasser on Unsplash
